Intermittent Fasting

In this blog entry, I'm going to post about Intermittent fasting.

Today is the 2nd day I'm practicing Intermittent fasting.  Specifically the 16:8 window.  Where I fast for 16 hours and eat during the 8 hours window.  This is 16/8 PROTOCOL.

What it is: Fasting for 16 hours and then only eating within a specific 8-hour window. For example, only eating from noon-8 PM, essentially skipping breakfast.

Some people only eat in a 6-hour window, or even a 4-hour window. This is “feasting” and “fasting” parts of your days and the most common form of Intermittent Fasting. It’s also my preferred method.

Two examples: The top means you are skipping breakfast, the bottom means you are skipping dinner each day:

You can adjust this window to make it work for your life:

- If you start eating at: 7AM, stop eating and start fasting at 3pm
- If you start eating at: 11AM, stop eating and start fasting at 7pm
- If you start eating at: 2PM, stop eating and start fasting at 10pm
- If you start eating at: 6PM, stop eating and start fasting at 2AM.

What Is Intermittent Fasting (IF)?

Intermittent fasting (IF) is a term for an eating pattern that cycles between periods of fasting and eating.

It does not say anything about which foods you should eat, but rather when you should eat them.

In this respect, it is not a "diet" in the conventional sense. It is more accurately described as an "eating pattern."

Common intermittent fasting methods involve daily 16 hour fasts, or fasting for 24 hours, twice per week.

Humans have actually been fasting throughout evolution. Sometimes it was done because food was not available, and it has also been a part of major religions.

When you think about it, our hunter-gatherer ancestors didn't have supermarkets, refrigerators or food available year-round.

Sometimes we couldn't find anything to eat, and our bodies evolved to be able to function without food for extended periods of time.

If anything, fasting from time to time is more "natural" than constantly eating 3-4 (or more) meals per day.

Back to my Intermittent Fasting experience:

My eating habits varies, it comes in 3 scenario...

Showroom Duty days:
A) 9am - 1pm - 5pm  OR 9am and 5pm

Non-duty days:

11pm-3pm-7pm

Saturday

8am - 12pm - 4pm

Sunday

12pm - 4pm - 8pm

Notice the pattern of 16:8 fasting?
